The University of Alabama Football Team: Its Beginning and Rivalries The University of Alabama, which is also known as Alabama, UA or even as Bama, is one of the most exclusive universities in the United States. This University has an extensive history when it comes to football. Alabama has a special football program, and the Alabama Crimson Tide has become known for fielding a competitive football team year in and year out. As one of the members of the Southeastern Conference, the University of Alabama football team is competing in the NCAA football South Eastern Conference, also known as the SEC.
This team is actually also one of the most storied programs in the history of the NCAA. Well, this is because since the program started in 1892, the University of Alabama football team has claimed 13 national championships. The team has also reached over 808 victories, in the NCAA Division I. This figure is aside from the 26 victories that the football team grabbed during the conference championships
The Beginning of the University of Alabama Football The game of football, as a varsity sports, was actually introduced in the University of Alabama way back in 1892. The first game was held on the 11th of November of the same year at the old Lakeview Park in Alabama. A record breaking score favored the Alabama team ending the game with a score of 56-0.
However, even before the golden years of football in the University of Alabama flourished, the board of trustees of the university issued a rule in 1896 that forbid all their athletic teams to travel off the campus. This caused the team to play only one game during the following season. Two years after the rule was issued, football as a sports was abandoned in 1898. It was only in 1899 that football resumed at the university when the trustees were forced to lift the prohibition on travel, this ban was lifted due to the opposition of the students.
Rivals of the University of Alabama Football Team From its long history of struggles and victories, the University of Alabama football team has formed a rivalry with different teams from different universities, specifically with Auburn, Tennessee and LSU.
On the one hand, the Auburn University football team remains the main rival of the Alabama football team. As a matter of fact, their rivalry is considered as one of the best and hardest-fought rivalries of all time. On top of this, their rivalry has actually affected even the cultural realm of the country. The effects of the Alabama rivalry is felt not only on the field but within the towns, cities and communities in which these teams reside.
On the other hand, the Tennessee Volunteers is another rival of the University of Alabama football team. The influence of this rivalry has transcended to the lives of many people as well. As a matter of fact, there is a specific date in each calendar year that marks the much awaited game between Alabama and Tennessee, which occurs on the third Saturday in October.
Lastly, the rivalry between the University of Alabama football team and LSU tigers occurs mainly during the yearly SEC Western Division football competition.

I am a good tight-end in NYC and I was wondering about college. I’m only a sophomore but my coach told me that he really thinks i have a future in football ( no bullshit ). I was just wondering what colleges have good football programs around NY. P.S. don’t answer some awesome college team like texas,usc,ohio state,michigan, florida etc. just a realistic team in NY area.

I’m not sure exactly how close it is- but i know that Syracuse is a pretty decent football school. Maybe you should ask your coach- most high school coaches know some college scouts.

Long Cove Club announces today that, in partnership with Darius Rucker and the University of South Carolina, the inaugural year of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate sponsored by Hargray will be held March 1-4, 2012 at the Long Cove Club golf course on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Top teams from around the country will travel to the island to compete in Long Cove Club for the title. Kicking off the event will be a Darius Rucker concert at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on March 1 for players, coaches, sponsors and guests. The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club will feature the best players from top universities around the country.
?This will be a signature event on the women?s collegiate schedule,? says Staunton Oppenheimer, Tournament Chair, who goes on to say, ?the membership of Long Cove Club is thrilled to play host to these top collegiate teams.? And top teams they are, joining the University of South Carolina will be: the University of Alabama, University of Arkansas, University of Central Florida, University of Georgia, University of North Carolina, University of Tennessee, University of Texas, University of Virginia, USC-Beaufort, Coastal Carolina University, Notre Dame, Texas Christian University, Wake Forest and Vanderbilt. The teams will be housed luxury private vacation homes on Hilton Head Island during their stay, will receive gifts from Polo and Oakley, and will experience a special Darius Rucker concert being held at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. This is the first of a five year commitment from Darius Rucker, USC and Long Cove Club.

Theres two locations for the university…downtown and 1604…which one will you attend?…the safest part of town that I feel is the northcentral ,…i live off of 281 and thousand oaks and love it….but what ever you choose san antonio..has many nice places
